MAXXI/ Future Architecture
(In) mura
In collaboration with the MAXXI (National Museum of 21st Century Art and Architecture), Rome, and Future Architecture, the theme 'Gender and Space' foregrounds bio-political alignments, inclusivity and marginal figures that are redefining innovative architectural, artistic and design practices, across global contexts, culminating in the exhibition, 'Buone Nuove' (Good News) in December 2021.
(In) Mura, represents the interconnection of socio-spatial phenomenologies, alternative sculptural, and performative choreographies, within contested architectural intimacies, as an augmented response to anatomies of containment, of boundaries, of gender, of discomfort, distortion and confinement.
With the body as a site for knowledge production, installation works are attentive to overlooked histories, proposing a mediated exchange between rituals of incarceration, archival/contemporary prison typologies, immersive space, politics of trauma, temporality, touch, memory and human/non-human narrative, as a way to situate female (auto)ethnographies, bodies, territories and architectures.
